Taraweeh Prayers During the month of Ramadan, Muslims often attend Taraweeh prayers at the mosque, which are additional night prayers performed in congregation. The Imam (leader of the prayer) usually recites long portions of the Quran during these prayers, and Muslims often recite the following Dua after each chapter (Surah) is completed: “Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbul ‘afwa fa’fu ‘anna” (O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love forgiveness, so forgive us.) Iftar Dua Iftar is the time when Muslims break their fast each day during Ramadan. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught his followers a specific Dua to recite before breaking their fast: “Allahumma inni laka sumtu wa ‘ala rizqika aftartu” (O Allah, I have fasted for You and I break my fast with Your sustenance.) Itikaf Dua Itikaf is an optional practice during the last ten days of Ramadan where Muslims spend a certain number of days in seclusion in the mosque, devoting themselves to worship and seeking Allah’s forgiveness. The following Dua is often recited during this period: “Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbul ‘afwa fa’fu ‘anna” (O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love forgiveness, so forgive us.) “Subhanaka Allahumma wa bihamdika ash-hadu al-la ilaha illa anta astaghfiruka wa atubu ilayk” (Glory be to You, O Allah, and with Your praise. I bear witness that there is no deity but You. I seek Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance.)
