HIGH VALUE CROPS TRAINING
High Value Crops Practical Training Program.
The High Value Crops Practical Training Program is an initiative designed to empower small-scale farmers to transform small land holdings into profitable agribusiness ventures through targeted crop selection and practical production skills. The program focuses on promoting crops with high market demand and strong income potential per unit area, including garlic, turmeric, ginger, tomatoes, and onions. By shifting attention from low-return staple crops to diversified high-value horticulture, the training aims to increase household income, improve food quality, and strengthen local agricultural entrepreneurship.
The training is delivered through an interactive WhatsApp group beginning 20th February, making it accessible, low-cost, and flexible for farmers across different regions. Participants receive step-by-step guidance on land preparation, planting, crop management, harvesting, and market positioning, with emphasis on safer and more sustainable production methods that reduce excessive chemical use. The program integrates organic and low-input fertility approaches inspired by Lifeworks Global technologies, including the use of biochar, compost making, and natural soil-enhancement techniques.
Beyond crop production, the initiative seeks to cultivate a business mindset among farmers by highlighting profitability analysis, small-plot optimization, and value-addition opportunities. The overall objective is to enable farmers—especially youth, women, and resource-constrained households—to recognize and exploit the economic potential of their land, thereby improving livelihoods and contributing to sustainable agricultural development. Participation is offered at an affordable fee of KSh 300, coordinated by Munyendo Leonard through mobile and WhatsApp communication channels.
